Can Pierre-Luc Dubois make the Blue Jackets roster?

he's also way in over his head if he thinks he can give Mathews a run for his money.

There really is no true rhyme or reason to how a prospect becomes an effective NHLer.

Some can make the jump and never look back some can't.

But the general consensus is to send a player like Dubios back to Junior. Its the safer way to go.

He has NHL size, speed, and skill sets but I think most would still say it is very unlikely he can force his way into the NHL and have a full productive year. The Calder is certainly possible but also highly unlikely.

Don't see why he cant - Wennberg did as a 19yr old and Dubois is arguably better. He has 3 people to compete against. Clarkson - who will probably be injured, as usual. Gagner has also been injury prone his entire career and is basically on a PTO and Karlsson who had a mediocre last year and is a fringe NHLer. There's definitely a spot for Dubois if he wants it.

Milano, Bittner and Bjorkstrand are also guys who he will be competing with.

Hopefully not... working in Sydney this fall and into winter. Would love to see him play on a regular basis.

If he earns a spot, great!

I would prefer they play him for nine games sometime during the season then send him back to Junior and not burn the first year of his entry-level contract. Give him a taste of the NHL, let his weaknesses be exposed, then send him down and say "Get better at this, this, and this."

If it works out in 2017-18 he blossoms into the #1 Center we need.
